Symptomatic Epidural Lipoma

Abstract

|
Neurological symptoms due to compression of the thecal sac by extradural fat were apparently first described by Lee et al. in 1975.
Since that time, in 22 out of 26 patients in whom an epidural lipoma has been reported, the lesions were associated with the administration of exogenous steroids.
We present a patients with clinical signs and symptoms of herniated intervertebral disc due to extra-dural lipomatosis, without obvious evidence of endocrinopathy or systemic disease.
